Cubes - Counting of Cubes : Cubes types of questions deals with the problems related to cubes. In this section, we will cover counting of cubes in the given figure.

Six faces of a cube are represented as shown below:

Here,Front face → Face no. 1,Rear face → Face no. 3,Top face → Face no. 5,RHS face → Face no. 2,LHS face → Face no. 4,Bottom face → Face no. 6.

Let us try some examples.

Example : How many cubes are there in the given figure.

A.  9

B.  10

C.  12

D.  11

Answer : 10

Explanation : From the given figure, it consists of 1 column containing 3 cubes and 2 columns containing 2 cubes each and 3 columns containing 1 cubes each.Number of cubes in columns of 3 cubes = 1 x 3 = 3.Number of cubes in columns of 2 cubes = 2 x 2 = 4.Number of cubes in columns of 1 cubes = 3 x 1 = 3.Therefore, total number of cubes = 3 + 4 + 3 = 10.

Example : Find the number of cubes in the given figure.

A.  15

B. 16

C. 17

D. 14

Answer : A

Explanation : From the given figure, it consists of 4 columns containing 1 cube each, 4 columns containing 2 cubes each and 1 column containing 3 cubes.Therefore, total number of cubes = (4 x 1) + (4 x 2) + (1 x 3) = 15.
